The warfare for plant highway: vascular plant–microbe interaction pinpoints lignin

چکیده
Abstract Plant vascular pathogens are one kind of destructive in agricultural production. However, mechanisms behind the pathogen-recognition and subsequent defense responses plants not well known. A recent pioneering study on plant immunity discovered a conserved MKP1-MPK-MYB signaling cascade that activates lignin biosynthesis tissues to confer resistance both monocot rice dicot Arabidopsis. The breakthrough provides novel view offers potential strategy for future breeding disease-resistant crops.

On the interaction of lignin peroxidase with lignin
The mechanism by which lignin peroxidase (Lip) interacts with the lignin polymer is discussed. Veratryl alcohol (Valc), a secondary metabolite of white rot fungi, acts as a cofactor for the enzyme. The Lip-redox cycle is discussed in terms of Marcus theory of electron transfer. It is proposed that reaction of a nucleophile in the active site channel with the incipient Valc'. is an essential eve...
متن کاملDirect interaction of lignin and lignin peroxidase from Phanerochaete chrysosporium.
Binding properties of lignin peroxidase (LiP) from the basidiomycete Phanerochaete chrysosporium against a synthetic lignin (dehydrogenated polymerizate, DHP) were studied with a resonant mirror biosensor. Among several ligninolytic enzymes, only LiP specifically binds to DHP. Kinetic analysis revealed that the binding was reversible, and that the dissociation equilibrium constant was 330 micro...

A new study shows that endothelial cells use synaptic-like machinery to control polarized secretion and deposition of newly synthesised fibronectin. This process is coupled to active integrin recycling to the same locations and is fundamental for vascular development in zebrafish.

متن کاملSystem Pinpoints Stressed Turfgrass
Turfgrass managers spend a significant amount of time monitoring their turfgrass fertility and irrigation programs to ensure the most efficient use of their resources while minimizing potential environmental impacts. Characterizing the spatial variability of nutrients across a golf course or large sports facility requires careful observation and periodic collection of soil and tissue samples. R...
